Last week, former Denver Bronco running back Terrell Davis was inducted into the NFL Hall-of-Fame. In his speech, he reminded the crowd of his unlikely rise to greatness that included transferring to the University of Georgia after his initial school cancelled its football program, being drafted in the sixth-round by the Broncos as a long shot to make the team, and only getting the chance to play running back after proving himself on special teams. Call it perseverance, great scouting, or pure luck, but the 2017 Broncos may need all three in the upcoming season based on their questionable depth... Read More
Man, you remember that one time we got high? Yeah…kinda. One of the things I really enjoy about being a budtender is hearing people’s story’s. If I am helping someone who is in the moment I like to sit back and listen. This is a main function a budtenders job, we listen. Who knows maybe there will be some good information in there? People do not so much come in to hear our stories, although they do ask, it is more about them. Hanging out in a legal weed shop is something some people have waited their entire life for, so I will not rush you out the door. Anyone who does is not a suitable budtender... Read More
Meet the Juan and only, Juan Machense. Juan was born in New York City where he lived all around the Queens and Long Island area. His family history runs deep in Colombia, so as a toddler, he moved down to Bogota and dwelled there for a couple of years. His Grandpa had a farm outside of the small town of Chiha, where he spend a good portion of his time at. After spending a smidge of his childhood in Colombia, he moved back to NYC where he stayed until he was 12 years old, in which his family packed up and moved down to Tampa, Florida – a city that seems to be quite the contrast to NYC. After... Read More
This past week I enjoyed my last week of summer traveling 800 miles to Branson, Missouri and back for our annual midwestern road trip and we made sure to stop at several hot spots along the way there and back. My husband and I braced ourselves for our first week long trip with long driving hours with our 8 month old daughter, and spacing out having a beer every few hours seemed to be the key to preventing all of us from losing our minds (pro-road trip with kids tip, btw). We were pretty darn close to hitting every brewery on our route, with the exception of a few Kansas City breweries... Read More
You already know that making a good movie is hard. The alchemy is peculiar, and it requires combining the skill of a craftsman with the soul of a poet to create something uniquely itself. If you think that’s tough, try adapting a novel into a movie. Sometimes the filmmaker can be faithful, too faithful to the source material, and suck the life out of it. That’s when you get works like Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone or Watchmen.* Other times the filmmaker taps into the story and themes with great precision, and you have situations like Jaws or The Godfather, where... Meet Madelaine “Maddie” Mideri Wong, originally from Jakarta, Indonesia. In 2011, while visiting her sister whom at the time was attending Bible School at Windsor, Colorado, Maddie made the decision to attend Bible School at Windsor as well. During her visit in Colorado she enjoyed the beautiful landscapes and the more relaxed environment, “I liked the vibe…it was nice and chill. Jakarta is the New York of Indonesia, it’s very fast pace, you have to be on the go and I wanted to have a break from that.” So in 2012, she returned to Colorado and while attending Bible School she...
