Health Talks at Hemp Expo

April 6th, 2019

This year’s sixth annual NOCO Hemp Expo hit record numbers of attendees at its sold-out event in Denver, Colorado. Last weekend I was among over 10,000 people in attendance at the conference. Just like the hemp industry is growing rapidly, NOCO has grown into the world’s largest gathering of hemp industry professionals in the world—in only six years! The event has highlighted the many uses of hemp, from CBD products, to hemp building materials, to the agendas printed on hemp paper. The event provided education and workshops across the board. There was a special keynote address from Colorado’s... Read More

Ravi Zupa Releases New Print, “Buraq and Mahakala”

April 1st, 2019

Continuing his exploration of spiritual and mythical characters from cultures across the world, Ravi Zupa has released the third print in his Tattoo series featuring Buraq from the Islamic tradition and a buddhist version of Mahakala. At the top, we see Mahakala—a fierce, chaotic form of Shiva (husband of Kali) who plays a significant role in Tibetan Buddhism. Like his wife, he is a symbol of time and thus is bound by no rules or structures of morality comprehensible by the human mind. “Facing Mahakala is the most alarming and frightening event in the life of any consciousness,” Zupa says... Read More

The Art of the State is an expansive series covering as much of the Colorado art scene as possible. This isn’t a normal exhibition; it’s a full scale immersion. Open to all Colorado artists and every type of media, this is an incredibly diverse event that attracts hundreds of artists. It takes place at the spacious Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. Home to three separate galleries and over 10,000 square feet of exhibition space, the Arvada Center is one of the few venues in the Denver area large enough for a collection of this magnitude. Rainbow Militia at Invisible City

March 19th, 2019

By my current estimate*, roughly 29% of social media is devoted to decrying why social media is so terrible for us. They’re not wrong. We spend a shocking amount of time comparing other people’s carefully-curated presentations of their mundane lives to our own, known-to-be-dreary existences. People who I know are boring as dirt in real life look like rock stars online. I am not immune to this: my phone tells me that I spend upwards of two hours a day staring at it, which is far more than I have ever spent staring at any lover I have ever had. Make of that fact what you will. I bring this up... Read More

March 16th, 2019

A mile higher. A mile healthier. That’s the slogan for the first ever 4.20K walk/run coming to the mile-high city on 4/20/2019. Denver is well known for having an overwhelming number of events catering to the cannabis lifestyle, and now there’s one specifically for athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone looking to promote the health and wellness benefits of this remarkable plant. The event is designed to “raise awareness and promote a healthy lifestyle with cannabis for medicinal purposes; physically, mentally, and psychologically. GEORGIA

March 16th, 2019

I love this city. The music, the art, the scenery, the people; it’s all top notch. One of the greatest things about Denver is the DIY community. It takes a special kind of person to pour their heart and soul, not to mention blood, sweat, and tears, into a project to benefit others. It takes a special kind of community to nurture these projects and help them thrive. Denver is an ideal in both of these aspects. We’ve had more than our fair share of legendary underground music venues, but now we have a slightly different DIY gem. The soon-to-be-all-the-rage garage gallery, GEORGIA. You... Read More

With cannabis legalization rapidly spreading across the world, the selection of products available are growing quickly. The numbers of consumers and products are growing, and deciding which products to consume with the desired effects and proper dosage can be overwhelming! Consumers now have a tool available to help clear the air of confusion. Cannabis can be complicated, but the Proper Cannabis Committee, a group of passionate experts, has been working to rate and review cannabis products for the past year! The Committee removes biases by testing product samples without any branding or packaging.... Read More

Processus is a gallery/studio located in the heart of RiNo. Since 2014, they’ve been providing a co-working space for printmaking, photography, woodworking, sculpting, and digital arts. Month of Photography

March 2nd, 2019

March is the month of photography in the art community and galleries all over Denver will be hosting events to celebrate. Literally hundreds of photographers will be featured at dozens of galleries, coffee shops, and art spaces. There will be exhibitions, Q&A’s, guided tours, lectures, and so much more. A month isn’t long enough, but it does give you time to check quite a few of these off your list. Niza Knoll Gallery will be showing a series from Randall Sampson titled, 3631: A Solo Cycling Journey Across America. Sampson is a former lawyer and amateur photographer. Last August... Read More
