3 Christmas Light Displays to Get You in The Mood

December 6th, 2019

One of my favorite things to do around Christmas is to see all the different light displays! I’m too lazy to ever put lights up myself, but boy is it magical to see a bunch of Christmas lights brighten up a street or scene that looks quite normal in the daylight. These are some cool Christmas light attractions that are sure to dazzle you!   Mile High Tree This is a new attraction to Denver this year: a massive electronic tree on the side of Speer Boulevard! It’s a nice take on a big tree attraction for Denver, resembling something like a sister to the Rockefeller Christmas Tree in... Read More

3 Places to Grab Bottomless Brunch this Weekend in Denver

November 15th, 2019

In my experience, the only way to really do brunch is to devote the day to an all-out bottomless brunch. Brunch is already amazing, and then add in bottomless mimosas? Count me in. Bottomless brunch also ends up being much more cost-effective too- why pay $7 for one mimosa when you can pay $13 for several? Check out these spots for a great bottomless brunch this weekend: you’re welcome.   Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox Ophelia’s is a premier place to go for anything, especially brunch. Not only is the decor and atmosphere fun and eclectic, a lot due to its history of being a brothel... Read More

Denver Named 10th Best City in the World for Travel

October 22nd, 2019

Lonely Planet has released its world-renowned travel list for 2020, and Denver placed in the top 10, one of only two U.S. cities to do so. Lonely Planet said about Denver, “Denver’s elevated position as one of the USA’s most charming boomtowns has reached new heights as the Mile High City enters its latest phase of growth, creative energy and damn good food. Construction cranes dot the mountain-studded horizon and empty lots turn into hip new hotels seemingly overnight, while new food halls such as Milk Market satisfy appetites with an eclectic mix of farm-to-table and international fare.... Read More

3 Coffee Shops to Try in Capitol Hill Denver

September 26th, 2019

Who doesn’t love coffee?! Grabbing a coffee at a cute shop always feels like a nice little treat to me. It’s a bonus if that coffee shop is a nice little place for me to get some work done too, or just meet up with friends. In Capitol Hill, here are some great places to try out and grab a delicious cup of joe.   1. Thump Coffee I love Thump Coffee! It’s a very cute coffee shop with a location on Downing Street in Capitol Hill. The place is a perfect size, not too small, but big enough to ensure you will be able to find a seat. It’s very inviting and has a great atmosphere that is modern... Read More

3 Great Places to Eat in Capitol Hill Denver

August 20th, 2019

Ah, Denver. The city is so fun and diverse with many different neighborhoods, each with their own spunk. Capitol Hill is a well-known neighborhood for its charm, tree-lined streets, and gritty history. Not only that, but they have a great selection of restaurants and bars at affordable prices! 1. LowDown Brewery This is one of my favorite places in the area! The vibe is very chill and low-key, and the food is to die for. They have amazing appetizers (their homemade beer cheese with bread and apple to dip is my personal fav) and a great selection of sandwiches and pizza. The service is friendly,... Read More

Denver Magic Show

August 15th, 2019

Denver Magic Show —————– By Jessie Hanson   Mondays in my world need a lot of help. Case in point: I was supposed to turn in this column on Monday, but it’s now Tuesday and here we are, still pecking away at this keyboard. Let it be known that I don’t do mornings or Mondays. Thus, when I heard that the first day of the workweek would be endowing with a magical evening every week, I trotted my caffeinated bones out to Capitol Hill to see what was going on.  Parking is a bitch in Cap Hill; a magician will never tell you the secret of her tricks, but I’ll... Read More

Watch the Rolling Stones Play “Like a Rolling Stone”

August 12th, 2019

The Stones had an excellent performance in Denver on Saturday, playing at Mile High with the same gusto they mustered in 1965 as a much younger band the last time they played in Colorado. The band also visited some local Denver favorites, including Casa Bonita (which Mick Jagger claims gave the band food poisoning), Williams & Graham, a speakeasy in LoHi, and Lo Stella Ristorante, an Italian restaurant, where Mick Jagger gave the owner a guitar pick. Watch the band play “Like a Rolling Stone” in the fan video below.      Read More
