Artist Spotlight – Jessi West Lundeen

September 19th, 2017

Jessi West Lundeen is a painter and illustrator who appears has limitless talents and creativity with her art. Lundeen currently focuses on her abstract paintings in her free time as a way of expression as well as letting loose her creative feelings. In the past however, Lundeen has experimented with many different types of painting and art forms before focusing on abstract paintings. “For a long time I created hyper realistic portraits, but I began to feel stuck. I turned to abstract painting because I could let go of everything and just create.” Lundeen still does enjoy creating illustrations... Read More

Grace Gallery Will Take Your Breath Away

September 18th, 2017

Grace Gallery is three floors of unique and interesting art! Located in the Santa Fe art district near downtown Denver, Grace Gallery has three floors of amazing art ranging from wood carvings and abstracts to nudes and portraits. There is art and jewelry made from bicycle parts, stunning photography that draws you in and won’t let you go until you’ve surely gotten your fill and even then you find it hard to walk away. The main floor is definitely my favorite but that’s not to say the upper and lower floors are lacking, in fact it’s astounding the amount of amazing art that... Read More

Access Gallery: Art for the Heart

September 8th, 2017

You will find many choices when you want to visit an art gallery in Denver, in fact you may be overwhelmed not only with the variety of art galleries but the art districts! My first stop was the Access Gallery in the Santa Fe Arts District just south of downtown. I think Access Gallery stands out to me because it’s doing something very worthwhile with the art program for people that are often overlooked or even shunned. Access Gallery is unique, it is a nonprofit that has been in operation since the mid-seventies, all the work is done by adults with disabilities who are given an opportunity... Read More

Artist Spotlight – Pamela Fowler Lordi

August 28th, 2017

Pamela Fowler Lordi is a local Denver artist that specializes in creating abstract paintings. Many of her works display expressive emotion and guide the eye across the canvas using contrasting colors. Her paintings include a seemingly endless amount of detail that the viewer will never take their eyes off of. The creative process Lordi uses involves a predominantly improvised method of having a blank canvas, acrylic paints, and the raw expression and emotion to create something out of nothing. Whether it is through her personal life, current events, or blasting The Rolling Stones in her studio,... Read More

Denver art

There’s no doubt that Denver is a great city to live in and visit if you’re a fan of the arts. From the historic Denver Art Museum, to the Preforming Arts Complex, awesome street art and more, Denver has become one of the biggest cities for the arts in America today. In fact, as Denver continues to increase in size, it seems like the city itself is becoming more and more of a hub for culture and the arts, now drawing in many who may have traditionally headed off to places such as Chicago or NYC to practice, prefect and share their crafts. That said, while the current Denver art scene is certainly... Read More

Primus On The Rocks

May 18th, 2017
Primus Poster

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the definition of Primus is “the presiding bishop of the Scottish Episcopal Church”. In the fictional Transformers universe, it is a living planet deity who fought the chaos-bringer Unicron. This past Tuesday evening the term applied to the power trio of accomplished musicians that laid down their unique blend of bass-heavy progressive funk/rock/metal they’ve been perfecting for the past 27 years. It was a crowd-pleasing night of many of the band’s “greatest hits” with only a couple brief lulls in energy when certain... Read More
