ARISE: A Transformative Colorado Festival of Yoga and Music

August 9th, 2019

Community and healing: those are the words that come to mind when partaking in your first yoga-music festival. For anybody that’s been to ARISE before, they’ll likely know what I’m talking about. Nestled between the rolling green foothills of Loveland, Colorado is Sunrise Ranch—an ideal location for an event such as this. Whether you come predominately for the yoga or the music alone, you’ll get a wide variety in both realms. From folk, funk, and electronic to vinyasa flow and AcroYoga, there’s a plethora of activities to choose from over the course of three days. What’s unique... Read More

Gender Equality Mechanics–Bikes Together

May 21st, 2019

Bikes are a splendid example of a thing that unites a community and offers a network of caring and support. Cities that plan and build for bicycle transit have a higher quality of life. People that ride bikes are happier than those that don’t. Bikes are the closest thing we can get to human-powered flight. This last statement is subjective, but I stand by it. Bikes are not God per se, but they are goddamned fun! This premise might come across as a bit hokey; clearly, bikes are not omniscient deities. But I really do believe in the power of bikes to do really important things in the world. For... Read More

April 6th, 2019

This year’s sixth annual NOCO Hemp Expo hit record numbers of attendees at its sold-out event in Denver, Colorado. Last weekend I was among over 10,000 people in attendance at the conference. Just like the hemp industry is growing rapidly, NOCO has grown into the world’s largest gathering of hemp industry professionals in the world—in only six years! The event has highlighted the many uses of hemp, from CBD products, to hemp building materials, to the agendas printed on hemp paper. The event provided education and workshops across the board. There was a special keynote address from Colorado’s... Read More

Faces of Denver – Darren Boyd

November 15th, 2018
Darren Boyd

Surviving as a neighborhood brewery in Denver is not an easy accomplishment these days stacked up against the saturated competition. Darren Boyd, one of the founders of Spangalang Brewery, believes that as the customer and competition has changed within the industry, the market and brewing process will too. Boyd has lived in Denver county for roughly 10 years after moving from Connecticut. He got involved in the brewing scene just as it was taking off in Denver and began working for Great Divide Brewing Co. After a couple years Boyd and his two other partners, Taylor Rees and Austin Wiley, all... Read More

June 1st, 2018

Denver watering hole owner and bartender, Eleanor Cheetham, runs the show at Fort Greene. Fort Greene is a bar in Globeville, which maintains a community driven atmosphere and Slavic speakeasy style. Originally, Eleanor got her start in Austin, TX before moving to Fort Greene in Brooklyn, NY. In New York, she worked in fashion and design before she decided she needed a change of pace. Once she moved to Globeville she visited the local steam punk dive bar of the neighborhood, Crash 45, and decided to apply for a job. After working as the bartender for three years, the owner sold the bar to a friend... Read More
