Ten Big Reasons Why We Whiffed on Drew Lock

May 7th, 2019

Let’s start with two undeniable facts: the Broncos are in dire need of a quarterback for the future, and I personally have nothing against Drew Lock.  That being said,  John Elway’s selection of the Missouri quarterback in the second round, with the 42nd overall pick, was awful on so many levels.  Or ten levels to be more precise. NOT EVERY DRAFT IS A GREAT ONE FOR QBs – The only two quarterbacks taken in the first round back in 2007 were JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn. EJ Manual was the lone QB selected in 2013, and the headliners of the 2014 draft were Blake Bortles and Johnny Manziel. ... Read More

When Everything Works

long shot

I don’t know if you guys knew this, but Hollywood is kind of shallow. If you’re a woman, regardless of your talent, intelligence, or drive, an awful lot of people are going to base their first and last impressions of you on your looks and body type. How many wildly talented women never got their shot because they didn’t wear a size zero? Take Charlize Theron for example. Impossibly attractive, she was first noticed in 1996’s 2 Days in the Valley.* For several years, she appeared in a string of forgettable films. She took a risk in 2003 playing serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster. The... Read More

Cannabis and Fitness Research Goes Mainstream

May 4th, 2019

Cannabis consumers are typically portrayed as lazy, and have had the couch locked stigma association in mainstream media over the years. With new research from the University of Colorado Boulder released, the topic about cannabis and fitness is going mainstream. The stigma about cannabis consumers being lazy is being shattered by science. Men’sHealth, Maxim, The Denver Channel, Medical Marijuana, Inc., MSN and The Denver Post are just a few of many discussing the recent research. The research surveyed 600 adult cannabis consumers from states where cannabis is legal for adult use. When asked if... Read More

“Stickwork” at Chatfield Farms

May 4th, 2019

The Denver Botanic Gardens is one of the city’s most popular attractions, and for good reason. It holds thousands of regional species as well as exotic plants that can’t be seen anywhere else (like Stinky, the corpse flower). It’s known not just for the flora, but for art installations as well. Who could forget Dale Chihuly’s intricate glassworks, or Alexander Calder’s surreal sculptures? The installations chosen complement the natural beauty of the gardens without stealing the show. They have so much to offer that it can’t all be contained in one place. The... Read More

Bike Smut

May 3rd, 2019

You guyz! You guyz!! You guyz!!! One of my favorite things EVER is coming to Denver! It’s called Bike Smut, and it’s rolling through Denver on May 8. Bike Smut is exactly what it sounds like; it’s a two-wheeled celebration of sexuality and transportation. And. It’s. Awesome. I first stumbled upon this treasure of short films shortly after I discovered that I really enjoy watching creative, independent erotica in large theaters. This was a whole new world of goofy people having fun and not caring what others thought about them. I loved it. Then I found out that goofy people can have fun... Read More

Brushing Your Teeth Twice a Day Lowers Your Health Risk

May 2nd, 2019

Thirty percent of Americans only brush their teeth once daily.  That is certainly enough to reduce the level of plaque-causing bacteria–it takes about 24 hours to develop on teeth–but you are more likely to have cavities if you only brush once daily, particularly if you are only brushing in the morning.  If you are going to brush once a day, it should be at night. It is always tempting to take a few shortcuts to simplify our lives.  I’d like to make the case that brushing once daily is not enough. Let’s talk about the health benefits of brushing twice daily. Prevent gum disease.... Read More

TapKat–A New Way to Give Back

May 1st, 2019

Supporting the community you live in and the causes you care about is how many nonprofits survive. Whether it is volunteering at food bank to fight hunger and food insecurity, donating a bike to a giveaway event, or pledging $5.00 a month to your favorite nonprofit, you want to contribute. Sometimes, however, it can be difficult to find new, fun ways to support the nonprofits you believe in because of a lack of free time or accessibility. Fundraising for nonprofit organizations and bringing awareness to each mission can be a real challenge. I have volunteered with nonprofits and other community... Read More
