Tansey – A Local Contemporary Art Gallery

December 15th, 2018
Wallflower Chandelier, Julie Conway

Tansey is a contemporary art gallery in the heart of LoDo. They offer exquisite pieces by well established artists, demonstrating highly refined techniques. While Tansey displays pieces from a variety of mediums, special emphasis is placed on sculptures. Crafted from glass, ceramic, wood, fiber, and many other mediums, each and every piece is a stunning example of imagination and craftsmanship. Originally located in Santa Fe, Tansey Contemporary is a welcome addition to Denver’s ever-growing art scene. Art in itself is beautiful and engaging, but the setting in which it is viewed is important... Read More

Denver Art Scene: Valkarie Gallery

December 8th, 2018
M'eye Heart Imagines, Lisa Luree

Valkarie Gallery is the brainchild of Valerie Savarie and Karrie York. It was initially imagined as a space to create and show the work of artists like themselves back in 2013. Over the last five years it’s grown into an artist owned and run collective that showcases emerging and established artists from a wide variety of backgrounds. The collective itself includes watercolor artists, jewelers, paper cut artists, book sculptors, graphic designers and photographers. Valkarie has two exhibition spaces, a main gallery and a resident gallery, as well as extra studio space. From December 12th thru... Read More

SYNC Gallery – Local Denver Art Gallery

Helene Strebel's: "Window Fascade"

The Santa Fe Art District is always buzzing with excitement. The galleries open their doors and release  a cascade of color, culture, and expression into the streets of Denver. It’s the perfect atmosphere for local artists to experiment with new ideas and collaborate with one another. Sync Gallery, at 931 Santa Fe Drive, is a prime example of this. It began as an artist collective nearly a decade ago. Its members sought to create a space where they could be represented while maintaining their freedom of expression. The gallery is divided into two sections. Samples of work from all 20 of the... Read More

Head Room Sessions

Head Room Sessions

I’m going to let you in on a little secret. In fact, it’s probably Denver’s best kept(musical) secret. There’s these things called Head Room Sessions. Once a month, musicians and music lovers duck into a small opening between two buildings off Santa Fe. They follow a narrow walkway illuminated by Christmas lights and upbeat spirits, to a brick building with a blue wall and a white door, the entrance to ReCreative. It’s a really awesome art gallery, and they’re gracious enough to provide space for these intimate live recordings. Head Room Sessions are really special events showcasing... Read More

Helikon

Helikon Gallery

Someone asked me recently what my favorite gallery was. I know, absurd. How could anybody pick one? It’s like trying to choose your favorite song, the best flavor of ice cream, or your preferred superpower. Every time one comes to mind, three more steps into the spotlight. It would have to be something imaginary. A skyscraper sized gallery with the first 30 floors full of emerging artists, 30 more of the greats, and then Meow Wolf straight up into the clouds, with a rotating stage that doubled as an elevator. On the bright side, even if Dr. Seuss doesn’t turn up reanimated and architecturally... Read More
