stunning example of imagination and craftsmanship. Originally located in Santa Fe, Tansey Contemporary is a welcome addition to Denver’s ever-growing art scene. Art in itself is beautiful and engaging, but the setting in which it is viewed is important to the overall experience. With its white walls and hardwood floors, Tansey provides a relaxing atmosphere contrasting the hustle and bustle of nearby Union Station. Sunlight pours through the storefront windows and shimmers off the numerous glass and metal pieces inside. The gallery is spacious and open, with ample room for a large number of works.

Tansey displays many artists at any given time, but they typically have two main exhibitions on a rotating basis. Currently showing are two solo shows by artists Julie Conway and Avital Sheffer.

Julie Conway is a highly acclaimed artist from Seattle, Washington. She builds custom glass and light works. In this series, Conway uses a combination of glass shapes and lighting patterns to bridge the gap between art and functional design. She pairs traditional glass blowing techniques with a modern flair resulting in complex, expressive creations. Her work has been featured in private and public collections nationwide. Conway is also the founder of Illuminata Art Glass Design LLC and BioGlass.org, an organization dedicated to the development of renewable and bio-sustainable fuel sources for producing glass. Her exhibition is showing thru December 31st.
