“My 420 Tours” Cannabis Grow Tour in Denver

October 6th, 2018
My 420 Tours

This week I went on the My 420 Tours Denver cannabis grow and dispensary tour at Euflora.  We arrived at the My 420 Tours offices and signed in for the experience. Guests were invited to try the CBD infused coffee before the tour began. Once we were all accounted for, we got on the tour bus, which was stocked with grinders, papers and everything needed to smoke some herb! The tour guide also made sure everyone knew the waters were complimentary and he encouraged everyone to drink as much as possible because everyone was from lower elevation out of state. It was very interesting to see where everyone... Read More

October 5th, 2018

Colorado is known for more than just skiing, craft breweries and sports teams. After gold was first discovered in 1859, Colorado became home to the Gold Rush, bringing thousands of people west hoping to strike it rich. Mining proved to be profitable, as over 8 million ounces of gold was found throughout the state, which allowed Colorado to establish its statehood and gain a colorful reputation for success. Although the gold rush ended in the early 1860’s, each September the Colorado mountains showcase their most famous gold assets – Aspen leaves. While the arrival of fall colors came early... Read More

Aurora Brewery Spotlight: Launch Pad Brewery’s Rocket Fuel

October 5th, 2018
Launch Pad Brewery

In Aurora off the corner of Kentucky and Buckley tucked back behind the 7-Eleven lies an amazing hidden gem – Launch Pad Brewery. Open seven days a week this “rocket-themed microbrewery and taproom” (as Google states) is decked out in all sorts of aeronautics gear including several scale models of satellites and rockets. Their small taproom boasts a decent amount of seating and is indeed dog and child friendly. The staff here is exceptional! Having frequented Launch Pad Brewery over the past few years (primarily due to its close proximity to Community College of Aurora); I was hooked. All... Read More

How I Got Out of My Toxic Relationship

October 4th, 2018
Stephanie Kemp

It’s 2:01am. And, I want to go to sleep. Truly, I do. But, my mind is mulling over the current state of affairs in the Supreme Court nominations. I spent the better part of this afternoon really listening to the testimonies of both sides. But, let me be clear, this post has nothing to do with politics. No, this story is about a 34-year-old female who is finding herself inside a conversation that is questioning whether or not women are truthful when it comes to explicating their experiences. And, be it good or bad, I am now finding a way to attach conscious thoughts to emotions that I felt two,... Read More

A New Vaccine for Cancer Is On The Horizon

In 2018, an estimated 1.7 million new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States and over 600 thousand people will die from the disease. Recently, a phase I trial was conducted testing a personalized vaccine’s ability to hold an aggressive group of cancers in check. The trial is the first step to determining if a vaccine can stop cancer in its tracks. The promising new cancer vaccine cured up to 97 percent of tumors in mice and will soon be tested in humans for the first time. Researchers from Stanford University will test the therapy in about 35 people with lymphoma by the end of... Read More

6 Essentials for Summiting Colorado 14ers in the Fall

October 4th, 2018
Hiking 14ers in the Autumn Season in Colorado

Hiking 14ers in Colorado has become popular to say the least.  Often while hiking to a summit I see a family with kids in tow, donning t-shirts, shorts, water bottles, and maybe a few rain jackets spread amongst them.  That is great and really during the summer, without storms in the forecast, that’s about all you need. Many of the 14ers are so heavily trafficked that new easy to access trails have been built and even if you did run into problems the likelihood that someone would be by to help within a matter of minutes is pretty high.  These summer sumits are great but some of us want... Read More

Rising Appalachia – Local Boulder Folk Music Event

October 3rd, 2018

According to a Freudian worldview, your Ego is the bossypants part of your psyche who’s always super worried with appearances and logic and avoiding risks. The Id is the wild child who wants illogical, contradictory, glorious gratification of desires. Denver is where I live out my Ego, and Boulder is where my Id wants to rule. My Id loves Boulder like my Ego loves dominating the other parts of my psyche. I visited Boulder this weekend to attend a concert by Rising Appalachia and Lyla June, a duo of folk-singing sisters and a Native American singer-songwriter-poet. The duo’s most recent project... Read More

Rock Solid – 8 Reasons Why Colorado is Playoff Bound

October 2nd, 2018
Rocktober

What a difference a week makes.  Well, ten games to be exact.  After getting swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Colorado Rockies were sitting at 82-70 and 2 ½ games out of first place.  Trevor Story had injured his arm, Nolan Arenado was in a major slump, the Rockies were fading from playoff contention, and I was writing their obituary. But the Rockies ended up winning nine out of their last ten games in what could only be described as the perfect storm, and for the first time in Rockies history, Colorado has made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.  I tried to find the one single catalyst... Read More
