Mike MacIntyre – Change is in the Air: 6 Reasons Why It Was A Mistake To Let Him Go

November 20th, 2018
Mike MacIntyre

The whispers began after the Colorado Buffaloes fell apart in the Oregon State game.  Those same whispers turned to shouts after the Buffs dropped their sixth game in a row, after a 30-7 drubbing by 19th ranked Utah at Folsom Field. Coach Mike MacIntyre was officially let go over the weekend, despite having one game left to possibly save the season.  While it is that time of year in which teams like Kansas go after a Les Miles, and USC ponders the future of Clay Helton, letting go of MacIntyre was premature at best, and here are six reasons why. The Colorado Buffaloes (5-0) extended their winning streak to five games with an impressive 28-21 victory over Arizona State last Saturday.  Running back Travon McMillan rushed for 136 yards on 30 carries, and quarterback Steven Montez was sharp as he added 328 yards and 2 TDs in the air.  The win put the Buffs atop the South Division of the Pac-12, and undoubtedly will move them up college rankings.  Football is the ultimate team sport, but after a four-touchdown performance, wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. is creating his own headlines. Thou Shenault Kill – Well, the Sophomore receiver... Read More

Nebraska dominated the first half with a retro game plan from the early 90’s of running the ball and stout defensive line play, but two early turnovers kept the Buffaloes within range trailing only 21-17 at halftime.  The Buffs made a few adjustments in the... Read More

Bragging Rights

September 5th, 2017

The nerves were apparent as I sat down to watch the Rocky Mountain Showdown as the Colorado Buffaloes kicked off the 2017 college football season with a solid 17-3 victory over the Colorado State Rams. Coming off a year in which the Buffs went 10-4, won their division, and played in a major bowl game, you would think that I could relax a little. But the PTSD of the Dan Hawkins era must still lay fresh in my mind. Aware that this Colorado Buffalo squad had lost as many as nine players to the NFL draft, including their quarterback and a majority of their defensive backfield, and the fact that the... Read More
