One Year on Wheels

May 27th, 2019
Navajo Lake (Brian Head, Utah)

I am often asked if I miss having a house. My gut response is rather defensive. I have a house. It just happens to be silver, sits on wheels, and can be transported to any desired location via my car. So, the simple answer is no, I do not miss having a house. I have one. If only life were as easy as the simple answers. The more complicated (and therefore, more realistic) answer is yes, I miss having a house. And I still don’t mean the thing with four walls and windows and a door. Don’t let me fool you—I am most definitely plotting my dream homes over here (yes, plural). One is a black A-frame... Read More

May 12th, 2018

The NFL and cannabis has been a hot topic for some time now. With the recent news of the NFL denying a player’s request to use cannabis as medicine, it only seems right we look at five quick reasons the NFL should allow cannabis. The request was made by Mike James, who is a running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. James is the very first active player to formally ask to be exempt from the NFL’s no cannabis policy. He put in the request for exemption to treat the number one reason on our list. Chronic Pain Our number one reason cannabis should be allowed in the NFL is to treat chronic... Read More

It’s time for the Super Bowl! I wonder how many of the athletes playing are consuming cannabis on a regular basis. Chances are, quite a few. Cannabis and football has been a hot topic over the past few years as more former NFL pros have come out of the green closet to advocate for its use as a medicine. Highlighted in Season 2 of the Netflix show, Disjointed, the Gridiron Cannabis Coalition got to make a public service announcement calling for the use of cannabis over opioids. The Gridiron Cannabis Coalition’s “mission is committed to the evolution of the natural healing elements... Read More

Cannabis Is Not A Partisan Issue

November 13th, 2017

The hot topic up at the bud bar this week did not involve the most fire strain of weed, nor was it about the best new edible on the shelf. It was not about what state would be going legal next or what concentrate process created the most potent dab. It was about a Gallup poll that showed marijuana legalization is currently supported by more Republicans than ever. Why should this surprise anyone? Marijuana is not mentioned in the Constitution and it is not mentioned in the Bible. Marijuana does not hurt or go against any of our cultural values. Marijuana has nothing to do with abortion and marijuana... Read More

The Normalization of Cannabis Through Sports

July 1st, 2017

Last night, I had the pleasure of viewing Ricardo Baca’s screening of his new project, Subculture, at Denver’s SeriesFest. It was after the screening, during the audience Q&A, when I was inspired by some of the comments made my Baca and his team. Baca is a legend in the world of cannabis, but for anyone who might need context, some of his accomplishments include being the world’s very first marijuana editor, and spearheading the formation of The Cannabist, a division of the Denver Post. Fortune magazine ranked Baca as one of the seven most powerful people in American cannabis while the... Read More

This places it as one of the fastest growing areas in the nation. It also means major changes have subsequently occured — as happens to any city when... Read More
