Vaping Illnesses Increasing Support of Marijuana Legalization

October 26th, 2019

As black market vaping products, including THC products, have been increasingly linked to vaping illnesses, support of marijuana legalization has only grown. As marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are unable to regulate products, even in legal states. Meanwhile, legal states are also struggling to keep up with regulation and safety for marijuana products. This is becoming even more of a problem as marijuana related products, including pre-filled vaping cartridges, are far outstripping studies about general vaping risks, and specifically... Read More

Lung Injuries Linked to Black Market THC Cartridges

September 28th, 2019

As lung injuries from vaping have exploded across the country in the last month, the CDC has been scrambling to figure out what exactly is causing the injuries when vaping has long been touted as a safer alternative to smoking. It turns out, many of the injuries may be related to solvents used in black market THC cartridges. The findings have linked back to vitamin E acetate and myclobutanil, both found in the bootleg cartridges that the CDC tested, but notably not found in the legal and regulated cartridges from dispensaries. Vitamin E acetate is used to cut cannabis for use in vape pens. Myclobutanil,... Read More

The Vitamin Shoppe Strikes Exclusive Deal with Uncle Bud’s Hemp

August 3rd, 2019

Earlier this year, we saw CBD start its mainstream transition when CVS announced they would carry their first CBD products. In order to meet demand and keep up with the competition, less than a week after the CVS announcement Walgreens announced they would be carrying CBD topicals in almost 1,500 stores. At that time, the popular supplement and health store GNC, was not carrying any CBD products at all, and I suggested why they should in a previous article. Since then, I’m happy to report that GNC wised up and started carrying Uncle Bud’s Hemp products. Now, The Vitamin Shoppe has made an exclusive... Read More

Putting on Pounds with Pot

Although there is much evidence suggesting you can lose weight with cannabis, it can also be used to gain weight. One of the most common fitness goals heard by personal trainers, besides losing weight, is gaining lean muscle mass. In order to build muscle, you need fuel, and some people find it more difficult than others to eat the needed amount of calories to gain and maintain muscle. Cannabis can help you gain weight by interacting with several areas of your body. THC affects both the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the brain. The CB1 receptor is responsible for the systematic function of several parts... Read More

6 cannabinoids you need to know about

August 18th, 2018

Both cannabis sativa and cannabis indica plants are packed with cannabinoids – a set of compounds that are almost unique to the cannabis family. Cannabinoids are incredibly powerful, as they work with the body’s endocannabinoid system – a complex network of neurotransmitters and receptors which function in the brain, central nervous system, peripheral nervous system, gut and skin. Having influence in so many areas means that cannabinoids can help to correct a range of health issues, from an over-aggressive immune system to chemical imbalances that contribute to depression.
