Ellementa: Women and Wellness

September 23rd, 2017

Women and Wellness go hand in hand. Women are traditionally more attune with their overall health and wellness needs for themselves, as well as their loved ones. I recently had the pleasure of attending my first Ellementa monthly meeting in Denver, this past August. Ellementa is a women-owned national startup building network, and resource for women interested in learning about cannabis wellness. They meet monthly in their locations to discuss health, wellness, and cannabis, with the goal of reaching and educating women. The group aims to release the stigma surrounding the plant, and hopes to empower... Read More

420 Games Team Colorado Launch Party is Huge Hit

September 15th, 2017

Photo Credit: Zach Zerr Photography   It was a day for the history books as the 420 Games Team Colorado held it’s launch party at Break The Stigma Fitness on Saturday, September 9th. The doors opened at 3:20pm with the official kick off taking place officially at 4:20pm. The crowd slowly trickled in for the first 45 minutes, with a surge of attendees showing up in waves just in time for the big spark up at 4:20pm. The energy at the event built momentum and then just exploded at 4:20! Before getting the obstacle course, team tug of war, and fitness challenges started, attendees had the... Read More

Marijuana, Meditation, and Mindfulness

September 9th, 2017

For me, marijuana has always been a means of mental stress relief. Before I became a cannabis athlete, I consumed marijuana regularly to help with anxiety and stress. Before moving to Colorado, from Missouri in 2015, my life consisted of 60-70 hour work weeks in corporate finance, and if I wasn’t in the actual office, I was at a dinner, or an auction, or some other event related to my work. The success was nice, but the stress was overwhelming. After long days and/or nights at the office, I would come home and calm my nervous system with the relaxing smoke of marijuana. Being in Missouri at the... Read More

Walking the Walk

July 18th, 2017

A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog regarding the differences between addiction and dependence. I published it on social media and received some negative comments. That is what people on social media like to do but it got me thinking. They were accusing me of talking the talk but not walking the walk. In the article, I mentioned how quitting weed was not very hard for me and I do it every now and then just to be able to continue to prove that to myself. I thought I had offered a pretty decent article and I was encouraging anyone who did not think they could quit to just try it, to breathe, to drink... Read More

Dependence Day

July 3rd, 2017

When you are on the pro-marijuana side of things it is hard to admit if there is any risk to using it. Both sides debate potential hazards of cannabis, but the topic of addiction rarely comes up. Are you addicted to weed? If your significant other, a job, or your parents asked you to stop do you think you could do it? The answer is yes you can do it because you are not addicted to weed. Weed fills the void when life gets a little mundane is all, and what some of us can develop from using it over time is a slight weed-dependent mindset. Quitting is simple, if you want to quit you got this. Don’t... Read More

OK Colorado, Time to Relax on the Packaging Laws

June 13th, 2017

Until recently Colorado’s little experiment has been overseen by a group charged with coordinating efforts to implement regulation for Colorado’s recreational and medical marijuana industries. This was a group of lawmakers and medical professionals made up to aid in the roll out of legalization. The group was recently disbanded by the governor, so it can be assumed that he feels the experiment has worked thus far. Hopefully, this also means that the cannabis industry will get a little break. Every six months or so, since 2014, this industry faces changes that cause our entire business model... Read More

Summer Buds

With the abundance of new cannabis strains flooding the market every harvest, how is one supposed to choose? Weed is expensive and when you are looking at more variety than Rob Lowe had in the 80’s it is easy to feel overwhelmed that you may choose the wrong one, but seriously though, you will never pick the wrong one. It is always nice to go into a dispensary with a little familiarity though and that is what I am here to help with. Consider me your own personal research and development guy…for weed. This week I picked up some Watermelon Man and Maui Wowie. Here is my confession, lol. I smoked... Read More

Spoiler Alert, Marijuana Makes Money!

May 30th, 2017

On any average day, I would say I see more out-of-state visitors than Colorado ones. So, for the sake of this blog, I began asking customers their thoughts on how long they think it will be until they see any kind of a legalization within their own states. The response I got from most people was, “my state will be the last to legalize weed”. These are grown men and women telling me they have no hope for their state, meanwhile, everyone in line behind them is also from their home state. Why choose to be so dire about the possibilities of legalization back home, regardless of your state’s... Read More

Confessions of A Movie-Loving Budtender

May 23rd, 2017

The weather got a little nasty again this week. The lovely spring that we had been enjoying took a break so that winter could make one last appearance, hopefully. I got used to the early warm weather, and my days spent mountain biking, hiking, and gardening reverted back to sitting inside and watching it snow some more. I know Colorado gets odd weather but a two- foot storm in late May is lame. However, as the saying goes, “we have two seasons in Colorado, winter and July” am I right? So, if we must be indoors, why not spend that time being entertained and watching some good flicks? My first... Read More
