Will Work for Weed and Benefits!

April 30th, 2017

A little over a year ago, I left a job as a corporate sales trainer for one of the country’s largest wireless carriers. There were a lot of reasons I left, but one of the biggest was that I was tired of working for corporate America. I wanted to work for a smaller company. I wanted to contribute more to a small organization who would value my work and talents, not just count me among one of their many drones. More specifically, I thought it would be cool to take my experience as a corporate professional and try to land a job in the cannabis industry. Now I wish I could write about how I’ve... Read More

This Movie Will Freak Out Your Grandparents

April 30th, 2017

I know all of you who clicked on this link are desperate to know about my morning routine leading up to the writing of this review. Happy to oblige! I got out of bed wearing 1 pair of red moose-print pajama bottoms and 1 Prefontaine t-shirt. Teeth were brushed thoroughly (47.2% of Americans suffer from periodontal disease!), and I gave my dog a brisk morning walk. Next, dog and cats were fed, I made breakfast for myself (Cheat day! Woo-hoo!), and checked Facebook (Friends bought a new home in Tacoma! Congratulations!) while I ate. I hung out a bit with my wife and son (Quality time is family time!)... Read More

The Shield vs. MMJ

April 29th, 2017

As 2017’s NFL Draft closes this evening, let’s take a look at the league’s policy regarding players’ cannabis consumption. Yesterday, Commissioner Goodell – welcomed by steady boos throughout the draft, every year (sparked, perhaps, by resentment toward his ~$35 Million salary, and his catering billionaire owners over player welfare and safety) – made a public statement on marijuana use, consistent with his previous rhetoric on the issue. Goodell basically maintains that the league will remain consistent with current medical research, and continue exploring potential... Read More

Full Fat and Happy

April 26th, 2017

When I was growing up, our household always had 2% milk in the house.  I never knew why but that’s what I consumed as a kid.  Fast forward to my 20s, when the low fat craze was in high gear.  I had switched to skim milk to reduce saturated fat.  I also used plenty of other low fat/no fat food items.  It wasn’t until I discovered that there was no such thing as a low fat salad dressing that tasted good, that I started the journey to fat freedom. Food manufacturers replace fat with sugar, so the low fat dressing tasted too sweet for me and I switched to full fat dressing. It was years later... Read More

What Is Your Favorite Strain?

April 25th, 2017

I am going to be honest with you, I really like weed. It smells nice, it tastes good, and its effects are enjoyable too. It is so lovely when you are not expecting it and you get hit with the aroma of cannabis.  When I walk into work in the mornings all I can smell are the grow facilities. The HVAC fans must kick on around the time I arrive because my walk into work from the parking lot every morning is a feast for my senses. I also love the way weed tastes, every strain has such a unique flavor. All cannabis is my favorite, I may prefer this strain over that strain but if you ever catch me saying... Read More

4/20 is the New Black (Friday)

April 23rd, 2017

We are now in the third year of legal recreational marijuana in the state of Colorado.  That means, this last Thursday, April 20th, better known as 4/20 (aka 420, 4:20) by potheads the world over, celebrated the third year of this special “holiday” in the state that started the legalization party.   The day is celebrated a variety of ways.   There are massive outdoor parties to mark the occasion (you all probably heard of reported headaches experienced at this year’s downtown event).   Gear is freely given out to help promote the day and their brands by local cannabis companies.  ... Read More

Gunfight: The Motion Picture

April 23rd, 2017

Let’s get something out of the way first. Despite being a strong supporter of responsible gun control, I absolutely love gunfights in movies. From John Woo’s acrobatic bullet ballets like Hard Boiled to the urban warfare in Heat, if a director can stage an action sequence involving firepower in a creative and compelling way, I’m so there. That’s where it gets tricky, isn’t it? How many gunfights have we seen in movies? Thousands. How many do you remember? That’s why, if you’re going to have folks blasting away at each other in your film, you’d... Read More

SENSIble Celebrations On The High Holiday

April 21st, 2017

Most cannabis consumers and cultivators do not require additional encouragement to celebrate their favorite cash crop. Still, the community has seen 4/20 grow from codeword, to an active movement on college campuses, and into a fully international cultural phenomenon. True to the Old English etymology, April 20 has become a holy day – where masses gather to collectively light-up, while dispensaries unroll their best deals and newest products – for those involved with cannabis culture. While many ‘outsiders’ still approach the date with irreverence (even annoyance), my personal experience... Read More

The Trifecta of Success

April 19th, 2017

We all know that it’s important to eat well, be physically active and get a good night’s sleep.  In recent years, magazines such as Entrepreneur, Time and Inc. have featured articles about the connection between engaging in the trifecta of health behaviors and professional success. Why? Your success starts with your health – eating healthy, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly. After all, if don’t feel great, how do you expect to sustain the focus and energy needed to get things done? Here’s a closer look at why food, sleep, and exercise can impact your success and what... Read More

Happy Holidaze

April 18th, 2017

Well, it is that time of year again. It has been on everyone’s minds for the last few weeks. Nobody is sure what to expect but they all know it will be good. Ski season has ended, summer is on the horizon, and our annual April event is about to kick off. Vin Diesel and his buddies are back at it with another installment in the Fast and the Furious film franchise. Hahaha just kidding. Happy 420 everyone! I must say though, the correlation between the rise in April 20th celebrations and the comeback of Vin Diesel is an interesting connection that should not go unnoticed. If you work in the weed... Read More
