Yoga On The Rocks: Take Your Practice To The Next Level

August 16th, 2019

They stand, side by side, towering 300 feet over practitioners below. The iconic red sandstone walls ricocheting sound from the front of the stage where the DJ is playing, as more than 2,000 people raise their hands above their heads before bowing to fold forward. With the early morning sun rising, slowly warming the amphitheater, students eagerly follow commands from the instructor—the conductor of the experience. “Inhale to upward dog, exhale to downward dog. Step to the front of the mat. Inhale to halfway lift, exhale to fold. Repeat.” It’s a steady mixture of sweat, breathing, and movement.... Read More

Colorado Yoga Teacher Spotlight: Meet Brett Mehlman

July 21st, 2019

It’s 6 a.m., and slivers of sunlight peep through the large, elongated windows of Brett Mehlman’s Denver-based studio apartment, greeting him as he begins his morning. A fresh glass of water is the first thing on his mind, followed by a guided meditation. As a busy yoga instructor, an established morning ritual is key for Brett. Preparing for his first client of the day, he concocts a blend of ginger, turmeric, black pepper, and skullcap for tea. “The trick here, is to add coconut milk,” he says with a grin, walking across the plant-lined floor to the kitchen cupboard. “Coconut milk... Read More

Arise

May 26th, 2018

Once again summer has come. The season of tan lines, patios, dog parks and feature hikes. The bicycle shops are stocked up on spandex and everyone and their mother is training for a 5k (I believe in you and you’re killing it). A-Basin has once more closed for the season, so the parking lot volleyball games will be moved to Cheesman Park until two weeks before Halloween when everyone becomes preoccupied with costume ideas. I have a kind of Groundhog Day test for summer, it’s not official until you hear someone say “You call this hot? I’m from Texas!”. Not to worry though, when ski season... Read More

Bongs and Barbells

November 4th, 2017

It’s been an exciting year in the cannabis and athletics industry. Even many mainstream publications like Vogue are covering the rising industry that is CannaFitness. CBD Coffee

October 21st, 2017

Every morning, the first thing I do after getting out of bed is make coffee. The ritual of making it begins my entire morning routine. I really enjoy dark roasts. I absolutely love the aroma of a freshly brewed dark roast coffee. I even enjoy the smell of walking through the coffee aisle at the grocery store! I like my coffee black, with no cream or sugar. I’ve come to savor the bitterness and usually will have two or even three cups in the morning. I typically consume cannabis early in the morning too, which is why I was excited when I first found out about CBD infused coffee. I was first... Read More
