Faces of Denver – Anthony Lopiccolo

June 26th, 2021

Denver has become a one of most recognized craft beer cities in the United States. Anthony Lopiccolo is working to push the boundaries of that title through the experimentation he does with food and sour beers at Goed Zuur. He and John Fayman opened Goed Zuur about a year ago after carefully crafting the idea for a restaurant that was unlike any beer bar Denver has seen before. Originally, Anthony began cooking at the age of eleven when his parents opened up a pizzeria in Detroit. His family always made their own prosciutto and signature dishes, which led him to develop a respect for the old-world... Read More

September 6th, 2019

A young black bear wandered into a backyard of a home in Fort Collins, causing 4 schools in a 2 mile vicinity to go on lockout, including Rocky Mountain High School, Webber Middle School, Johnson Elementary School and Olander Elementary School. A report from the homeowner, courtesy of the Coloradoan, said, “I opened up my blinds to go out and water, and I thought, ‘How did a big black lab get over my fence and into my backyard?”’ said the homeowner, who wished not to be identified. “I had never seen a bear in this area of town. Then I noticed it was a bear. It was... Read More

August 28th, 2019

An elderly couple living in Jefferson County was met with a shock as they investigated a noise downstairs Monday night. The bear panicked and attacked the man to protect her cub, at which point the main punched the bear and his wife beat it with a baseball bat. Bear Breaks into House, Kool-Aid Man Crashes Through Wall

August 13th, 2019

A bear made its way into a home in Estes Park on Friday, then was spooked while in the house. Police said that the bear “forcibly breached a hole in the wall like the ‘Kool-Aid Man’ and made [its] escape.” This is not the first bear break-in in Estes this year, with 35 bears breaking into vehicles. Wildlife officials say that there was not food in the vehicles, but the bears are used to there being food in cars, so they check just in case. It is likely that the bear burglar in question broke into the house in the search of food as well. The police said in a statement on... Read More

July 28th, 2019

A bear, now nicknamed “Cheeseburger,” was caught on camera outside of a Lyons dispensary attempting to break into the Dumpster. When he was unable to break into the Dumpster, he decided to just walk away with the entire Dumpster. Nikko Garza, the dispensary’s manager jokingly said that the bear is “showing initiative” and looking for a job. He said the Dumpster only contains boxes, and it’s unlikely the bear is looking to get high.  Read More

Bear Breaks into Car, Butt-Shifts Vehicle and Drives Downhill in Boulder County

July 6th, 2019

By: Óscar Contreras BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. – A “delinquent bear” had a bit of fun in Boulder County this 4th of July, and it didn’t involve fireworks. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said a bear pulled open an unlocked driver’s doors and climbed in. Unfortunately for the bear – not to mention the owner of the car – the door closed behind the animal. The bear then worked on digging through all four doors, “but apparently butt-shifted the car into neutral.” The car then rolled back and off the driveway about 100 feet down the hill, and the bear ended... Read More

Bear Runs Through Marathon in Leadville

June 28th, 2019

Runners at Leadville Trail Marathon in Colorado were met with a stunning surprise as a bear crossed their paths about midway through the race. The bear ran straight through the middle of the path that the runners were on, causing everyone to stop what they were doing to watch it meander through. Stephen Peterson of Colorado Springs told Runners World, “We let the bear do what it was going to do, and it found a gap in the runners to cross and then took off into the brush. Everyone just looked at each other like, ‘Did that really just happen?’ It was so casual. That was what was funny... Read More
