This Is Not Your Movie Theatre JuJube

November 30th, 2017

Maybe you’ve had JuJubes at the movies? The precursor to gummy bears, JuJubes are faux fruit flavored chewy candies that keep your dentist in business. The hot JuJube right now is actually Ziziphus jujuba, commonly called jujube, red date, Chinese date, Korean date, or Indian date. Mounting evidence shows the red date can protect us from inflammation, obesity, cancer, gastrointestinal maladies and, like any good superfood, has antioxidant properties. It grows mostly in South and East Asia, as well as in Australia and Europe, but is making an appearance in the American diet. Jujubes are also adaptogens,... Read More

What Are You Dankful for This Year?

November 29th, 2017

This article may come at you a little late this year, being that Thanksgiving was last week, but it is never too late to be thankful, or dankful this season. I normally like to use this column as an outlet to bemoan about something that most people would bend over backward for. It can be fun to sit back and air my grievances about the weed industry, after all, it is the landscape I see every day. Fortunately, the industry I work in is hot right now, so it affords me this outlet. No grievances today though, just love.   I am dankful for all the amazing growers out there. Indoor farmers and... Read More

Avalanche Update – Exceeding Expectation

November 28th, 2017

It feels like just yesterday we were starting the 2017-2018 NHL season. The question marks for the avalanche were seemingly endless. Would this team bounce back from a horrible year? Should we even expect them to win that many games? Surely they will be in the running for this years 1st overall pick at the draft for the highly touted Swedish defenseman Rasmus Dahlin. We are now officially at the end of November and have passed the 20 game mark. A mark that, statistically speaking, says what you have in your team. Well folks, the Avs are currently 11-9- 2, two games above .500. The season is still... Read More

The Amazing Adventures of Spencer Dinwiddie

November 28th, 2017

The Amazing Adventures of Spencer Dinwiddie. The title reads like a Jules Verne novel and conjures up images of dark London streets, characters with handle-bar moustaches, Bowler hats, and hot air balloons scurrying throughout European clouds.  But while the name seems classic, the story was almost over before it began. A top-100 recruit from Taft High School in Los Angeles, Spencer Dinwiddie came to the University of Colorado in 2011 with all the makings of a great player.  At 6’6 with outstanding range and a great handle, Dinwiddie was an immediate starter and quickly became the go-to-guy... Read More

Fueled By Anger

November 26th, 2017

How useful is anger? It depends on the cause, the reasons, and how it’s channeled. We’re taught that nothing productive comes from getting mad. Instead, you need to take a breath, calm yourself, embrace forgiveness, and let go. That all might be true, but there’s a lot in the world that’s worth getting angry about. For example, a woman in Sherman, New York was shot and killed just this last Wednesday. Why? While walking her dogs at dusk, a neighbor mistook her for a deer, drew his pistol and pulled the trigger. No malice was meant by it; the shooting was just an accident. Regardless, Rosemary... Read More
